How To Longboard

Everyone wants to learn how to longboard, but it’s not as easy as it looks. People may think all you have to do is just step on the board and kick your leg. Well that’s true but staying on the board is what makes it tough for beginners. Everyone can do the motion where you act as if you’re riding a board, but there are several areas which makes it tough for people to ride. I had some problems myself when I first rode a longboard. The one thing I did notice though was it was easier to ride than a skateboard, and it goes a lot faster. Here are some techniques to help you how to ride a longboard.

The first step is to make sure you have good balance. Everyone can kick but balance is a very important step in learning how to longboard. Just stepping on the board feels very different because the board is long, and also it is flexible. Those two aspects can make a longboard feel very different or awkward. A good position on how to get good balance is to have each foot towards both middle ends of the board. If your feet are there, then it is much easier to ride and is also the proper position. If you don’t have good balance than I suggest you just practice going very slowly because then you can practice standing on the board. Remember, you should always ride with confidence because that is what helps you ride a lot better and have a less chance of falling. It takes a few weeks for a beginner to get use to, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be riding around your whole community.

The next big step is learning how to kick and position yourself back the right way. Kicking is probably the easiest part in riding any sort of board, but you must learn how to kick a certain distance away from your board and know how to position your feet back to a regular riding position. After you start kicking you will gain speed and eventually you’ll want to stop kicking and just enjoy the ride. To do so you must bring your kicking feet back to the board and then pivot your foot so that your feet are facing either to the left or right side of the board (depending if you’re goofy footed or regular). Pivoting is what makes it difficult for some people because some people have trouble pivoting back and staying balanced. Don’t worry, that adjustment will only take a few days to get use to. Also when you’re kicking, make sure you don’t accidentally kick or get hit by the wheels, because if you do, you will either fall because you kicked the wheel, or you could trip because the wheel hit you and then the board stops immediately.

All these tips are very important for everyone to know because these are key ways on how to longboard properly. Remember to wear safety gears because if an accident happens, safety gears will prevent severe injuries.
